Angelica hendersonii - Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) - 'Coast Angelica.'- This lovely medicinal herb is a native of the Northern California coast. It is robust and intensely scented, rising from its aromatic rootstock to over 5' tall in flower, with insect-attracting domes of umbels. Although it is native to the edge of bluffs overlooking the ocean, it is also adapted to well-watered gardens in the inland heat. Good in full sun on the coast, to partly shaded conditions in hotter zones.
